In the heat of it

During the winter months we're praying for summer.
During the summer we're praying for............Fall!
Who doesn't like Fall with a slight chill in the air,
a burgeoning of colorful leaves sprouting on trees.
The lure of pumpkin patches and the Pilgrim's quest
for turkey dinner...........

ok, back to summer!  So how's your summer going?

We're hoping your summer is fun, relaxing and uneventful.
A time of rejuvenation!

Remember, we're just a call away!

Dawn and Dusk

Dawn and dusk is the absolute worse time
for mosquito's to find you!

How do they find you.........by your smell!

If you use a product like Deet, be sure to spray
on your clothes only and not on your exposed skin.
These chemicals can seep into your bloodstream,
which is not a good thing.

Here's a natural repellant that you can
whip up on your own:

Daily Mom’s “Bug-Off” Insect Repellent Recipe
  • 6 ounces witch hazel
  • 2 tsp vegetable glycerin
  • 20 drops citronella essential oil
  • 20 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 5 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 5 drops clove essential oil
Other oils to try: geranium, lavender, any oil from the mint family,
vanilla, lemongrass, tea tree, cedar, catnip.
Once you’ve gathered your oils,
pour in a spray bottle, shake and apply every
2 hours while you’re outside.

Once bitten here are some tips:
- Antihistamine cream will relieve the itch and swelling
-Ice pack
-Aloe Vera gel (keep in the frig where it's nice and cold)
-1% Hydrocortisone cream

Hey, we get bit too!  So we wanted to share a few tips
to keep you safe from these pesky critters during the summer month's.

Did you know?

Some interesting facts about Maryland:

State Bird:  Baltimore Oriole
State Reptile:  Diamondback Terrapin
State Fish:  Rockfish Striped Bass
State Crustacean:  Maryland Blue Crab....ooh, yummy!
State Insect - Baltimore Checkerspot Butterfly
State Dog - Chesapeake Bay Retriever
State Flower - Blackeyed susan
State Tree - White Oak

The state flag of Maryland was officially adopted in 1904.
It is the only US state flag based on British heraldry
(the coats of arms of noble families). The flag's design was based
on the coat of arms adopted by George Calvert, the first Lord Baltimore.
The alternating yellow and black are from Lord Calvert's family shield;
the red and white design is either from Calvert's maternal family,
the Crosslands, or his wife's family, the Mynnes.

We love our pets!

We love our pets and they love us!
So let's be sure to take care of them this summer.
Heat and humidity are sweltering for us and them!

It takes approximately 30 minutes for a dog
to become overheated and possibly a fatal situation
in a closed car - which becomes an oven, reaching
temps above 115 degrees.

Please, please.........should you lock your keys in
your car take immediate action.  If you call
George's Custom Towing, be sure to tell us of your
situation so we may get to you as quickly as possible.
We have pets too and love them just like you do.

Here are some quick summer dog safety tips:
- Do not walk your dog on hot asphalt............ooh, hurts their
little feet.
- Do not shave your dog, they get sunburns too!
-Check your dog for ticks
-Provide plenty of water

Does your dog have heat stroke?
Any signs of nausea/vomiting, dehydration, loss of
consciousness, stumbling, heavy panting, bright red tongue
or brain damage...............please rush to the Vet!
