I did it, I finally had no choice but to get a new car and yesterday was the day!
While this should be a very happy experience, after seven hours
of walking dealerships and haggling
I was worn out and screaming uncle. Basically, I would have bought anything
just to get out of the dealership.........and I did.
I arrived at the first dealership about 30 minutes before it opened.
I wanted to walk the lot and get a feel for prices. Well, this particular dealership had
the paperwork hidden on the dashboards behind the tinted windows and it was
impossible to see anything. Isn't this illegal?
Vultures to the prey
No less than 15 salesmen lined the sidewalk into the
entrance of this place. Quite intimidating to say the least.
Oh, did I mention that I have purchased and paid off
4 vehicles through this dealership...........hum, does loyalty mean anything today?
I spent a considerable amount of time researching on line
before venturing out in person, only to find out that all they had
were 2014's and absolutely no 2015's in the model I wanted.
I was close, so close to buying a 2014 until the sticker shock came.
Not only the sticker shock but the dealership's reluctance
to get to the price that I wanted.
So I walked...........and as I made my way by the line of salespeople I
shouted out wow, all you guys standing out here and I can't make a deal!
Let's take it up a Notch
By this point my Mother had joined me and encouraged me to go
to a dealer that would normally be out of my price range.
You see, this car was an unexpected gift from my parents and they wanted
me in a safe vehicle and in a brand new 2015. (I'm so lucky!)
This dealer would not let us leave.........
it was harrowing to say the least, but hey they got the sale.
Mostly because they just plain tuckered me out.
I quickly found myself on an assembly line. First the salesperson does his dance, then the
manager did his dance, then the finance manager did a jiggle or two. I was not budging,
no matter how great they thought their vehicle was, or the low gas mileage............oh and the free
9" tablet they were going to give me...............and you get to spin the wheel to win a prize too.
I just kept saying over and over again: This is what I want to spend - the end.
Can you believe they came down $5,000 off the sticker price and told me
they basically sold the car for what they paid the manufacturer. Sure, ok.
Hey, I got the tablet............and did a spin at the wheel and won $20!
The Tip! Call a broker!
I was driving home and trying out my new blue tooth device........cool beans,
called my sister in New York and told her about the day. She says:
We use a broker. We tell him what car we want and how much we
want to spend. The car gets delivered to our driveway.
Oh no, I would never go through the experience you did. Aha!
I was so disappointed in "my dealership" that I've purchased four vehicles from.
Just the thought that my loyalty to this manufacturer means so little -
well, I'm here to tell you this is not the case here at George's Custom Towing.
We want customers for life. We want to be the tow company you
automatically call for all your needs. We want to earn your loyalty.
Keep us in mind next time..........
