Testing, Testing

Did you see/hear the emergency alert?

FEMA tested an Emergency Alert message on Monday
March 30, 2015 that scrolled
across the TV and was blasted on radio stations in the
following States:  Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland,
Massachusettes, Rhode Island, Connecticut,
New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia
and Washington DC.

They did another test Nationwide on April 1st
at 2pm.  I missed that one too!

For some reason there's very little talk about this,
although I did find this article:

So, can we talk shades of bomb drills
from the 60's..........do you remember?  Although a
youngster at the time, I clearly remember crawling under
a desk as the booming school alarm rang
through the hallways.

Surely sends chills up your spine.

I haven't really heard a very good explanation
about these alerts.  Something about the President being
able to talk to the people nationwide from wherever he
is.............the lingering question is, what is the message?

April 2015, here we come.........

April Fools Fun

Do you remember this:

A few years back, Burger King published a full page advertisement in the
April 1st edition of USA Today announcing the introduction of a new item to their menu:

a Left-Handed Whopper

specially designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans.  According to the ad, the
new whopper included the same ingredients as the original whopper, but all the
condiments were rotated 180 degrees for the benefit of their left-handed customers.

The following day Burger King issued a follow-up release revealing that although
the left-handed whopper was a hoax, thousands of customers had gone into restaurants
to request the new sandwich.  Simultaneously, according to the press release, "many
others requested their own "right handed version."

The power of advertising!

Happy April Fools Day!
May your day be filled with fun and laughter.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Seriously.........seems winter will never end, and now as we move into April

we need to prepare for the usual April rains.

It's as though we're in the rinse cycle,

getting all sparkly clean before heading into summer.

Atleast we have something to look forward to!

Helpful tips from AAA

 Wet Weather Driving

Your odds for a collision in wet weather increase dramatically. Hard rain or snow can limit visibility so you can’t see the edges of the road, traffic signs or other vehicles. Slowing down is the best overall policy for wet weather driving.

See & Be Seen

  • Keep your windshield clean, inside and out.
  • Keep your wipers clean and in good condition.
  • Keep headlights clean.
  • Increase the following distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
  • Don’t drive through deep water on a flooded road.
  • Make sure you have adequate, full tread and properly inflated tires which allow water to escape from under the tires.
  • Avoid using cruise control. It can be dangerous in wet driving conditions.

Wishing you a great day!

This we can't do!

Did you see the news piece about the Mac truck that got stuck
off a highway shoulder?  When emergency responders arrived on the scene
the problem became quite apparent, seems the cargo in this truck
was three elephants!

.......and NO we don't have the equipment to tow a mac truck
containing three elephants!

Unfortunately I couldn't find a follow up to this story
this morning so I'm not exactly sure what the ending is.
