Pet Care as we Head Into Summer

We love our pets and they love us!

So let's be sure to take care of them this summer.

Heat and humidity are sweltering for us and them!

It takes approximately 30 minutes for a dog

to become overheated and possibly a fatal situation

in a closed car - which becomes an oven, reaching

temps above 115 degrees.

Please, please.........should you lock your keys in

your car take immediate action.  If you call

George's Custom Towing, be sure to tell us of your

situation so we may get to you as quickly as possible.

We have pets too and love them just like you do.

Here are some quick summer dog safety tips:

- Do not walk your dog on hot asphalt............ooh, hurts their

little feet.

- Do not shave your dog, they get sunburns too!

-Check your dog for ticks

-Provide plenty of water

Does your dog have heat stroke?

Any signs of nausea/vomiting, dehydration, loss of

consciousness, stumbling, heavy panting, bright red tongue

or brain damage...............please rush to the Vet!

Operation Safe Tow

This is so awesome!  M.A.D.D. and the Lexington, SC Police Department

have implemented Operation Safe Tow to get drunk drivers off the road.

This is so PROACTIVE!  

It makes sense - to the intoxicated -  that someone would choose to 

drive drunk so they don't have to leave their vehicle, now they have

the option to call a participating tow truck company

in the Lexington market that will get them and their vehicle

home for a price of $100.

$100 vrs $1,000+ plus a DUI on your record..........this is

a no brainer.

Sleep Deprivation and Driving

Are you getting ready for a summer vacation, please stay alert on the road!

Sleep deprivation or fatigue is equal to a .08 alcohol level.  

From 2009 - 2012, there's been an increase in fatal crashes involving large trucks.

The only way to protect yourself is to be overly aware while on the road and

learning a few defensive driving tactics to keep you safe.

 Some things to be on the lookout for:

• Turning with a wide radius.
• Straddling the center of the road or lane marker
• Almost striking an object or other vehicle.
• Weaving or zigzagging across the road.
• Driving on other than a designated roadway.
• Swerving or abruptly turning away from a generally straight course.
• Turning abruptly or illegally.
• Driving slower than 10 mph below speed limit.
• Stopping without cause in a traffic lane.
• Stopping inappropriately (other than in lane).
• Drifting or moving in a straight-line at a slight angle to the roadway.
• Erratic braking.
• Driving into opposing or crossing traffic.
• Signaling that is inconsistent with driving actions.
• Slow response to traffic signals (sudden stop, delayed start).
