Tow News Around the States

In an effort to reduce drinking and driving,
Manatee County, Fl has taken extreme measures
PREVENTING cars from being
towed between 9pm - and noon the next day.
Of course there are extenuating circumstances
when a vehicle is blocking an
emergency exit or access area then
towing will be necessary.

Meanwhile........

Charleston, SC takes there street sweeping cleaning
duties quite seriously!  All vehicles will be towed,
no exceptions in Radcliffborough.
Move it or lose it!

Oh the trucks!

Oh the trucks..........

Holy &^@(*#&*!&*(!&.....are you kidding me?

It seems that my entire 20 hour road trip had me
sandwiched between four massive trucks
that would not let me pass..........they
wouldn't let each other pass either.
What's that about?  I always thought there
was this breaker, breaker brotherly love
thing happening with truckers.

When you're traveling along I95 you
get to know the vehicles and trucks that
are traveling with you.  So I had my eye on
what appeared to be a family in several vans
traveling together...........and can I say I was
shocked when they pulled over to the shoulder,
all five vehicles right at the edge of an exit.
Hello, are you crazy!

This would be an instance for a pile up, worse
this would be a nightmare for an emergency
crew to get to these vehicles without putting
their lives in jeopardy.

I saw some wild moves during my journey.....
you know, the people that pass on the right
leaving your heart in your stomach or the
people that pull off onto the shoulder and
swing open the driver's side door right into
on-coming 80 mile an hour traffic........
without a care in the world!

Then you have the trucks that travel
together four in a row............with that
kind of weight and momentum they
could never stop!

Having taken this trip I really have an
appreciation for the battle tow truck
companies are up in arms about it. It's
dangerous work and enforcement of the
Move Over Law in every State is imperative.

Stayin' Alive on I95!

Stayin' Alive on I95

Holy #$%%#^^&*&............are you kidding me!

I am by no means a seasoned traveler, but I have
taken many trips along the east coast.

The past two days I drove from New York through
New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia
and landed to my destination in Florida.

wow, it was an eye opening experience.......

First off kudos must go to the State of Florida!  They get
a gold star!  When you enter the State there's a large
gold and white sign:

It's Florida Law
You Must MOVE OVER
for Stopped Emergency Vehicles

These signs are scattered down the I95 corridor of Florida.
Not only that, they also have electronic reader boards
announcing when there's a disabled vehicle
giving you a heads up!

Unfortuntely I cannot say the same about the rest
of the States that I traveled through.  There were so many
areas along I95 that it would be impossible to pull
over.........you know, the States that have yet to
widen the roads.  I can see how this can be
so dangerous for a motorist that pulls onto
the shoulder and even more dangerous
for the emergency vehicles that are trying to
assist.

I'll save my Mac truck experiences for another
post........let's just say I prayed all the
way to Florida.

MOVE OVER, IT SAVES LIVES

Blue Light Bill

Blue Light Bill
Struck Down in Albany

More bad news for the tow truck industry
who are desperately trying to
find ways to keep themselves and
employees safe while trying
to rescue vehicles
along highways.

This bill would have allowed tow truck
operators to put blue flashing lights in their
back windows so passerby's could see
them more clearly on the side of the road.

Come on now..........something has
to give.
