April Showers Bring May Flowers

Seriously.........seems winter will never end, and now as we move into April 

we need to prepare for the usual April rains.  

It's as though we're in the rinse cycle, 

getting all sparkly clean before heading into summer.  

Atleast we have something to look forward to!

 Wet Weather Driving

Your odds for a collision in wet weather increase dramatically. Hard rain or snow can limit visibility so you can’t see the edges of the road, traffic signs or other vehicles. Slowing down is the best overall policy for wet weather driving.

See & Be Seen

• Keep your windshield clean, inside and out.
• Keep your wipers clean and in good condition.
• Keep headlights clean.
• Increase the following distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
• Don’t drive through deep water on a flooded road.
• Make sure you have adequate, full tread and properly inflated tires which allow water to escape from under the tires.
• Avoid using cruise control. It can be dangerous in wet driving conditions.

This we can't do!

Did you see the news piece about the Mac truck that got stuck

off a highway shoulder?  When emergency responders arrived on the scene

the problem became quite apparent, seems the cargo in this truck

was three elephants!

.......and NO we don't have the equipment to tow a mac truck

containing three elephants!

Unfortunately I couldn't find a follow up to this story

this morning so I'm not exactly sure what the ending is.

Not to drone on

Not to drone on about drones..............but, did you see that the FAA

gave the green light to Amazon for testing drones to deliver packages?

This will open the door for so many other industries

that can use this technology.  First Responders come to mind, 

of which Tow Truck companies are part of this group.

So, who exactly coordinates all these flying drones in our air space

from a multitude of industries?  

What's good for the goose is good for the gander-

if Amazon can use this technology then so can

every other big business entity.  Don't you think?

Not that I have any insight whatsoever into the specifics of "how" and

"why".........but my imagination has run a mock!

Why use drones for shipping?

Doesn't this by-pass UPS, FedEx and the US Post Office?

Is that a good thing?

So when you place an order with Amazon are you

agreeing to having your picture taken when an item is

delivered.  I'm assuming that's one of the perks for Amazon in

using drone technology.  Proactive loss prevention for Amazon, 

invasion of privacy for the common folk.

.....and, does the Drone ring your door bell or knock on the door? hum

Well, keeping my eye on this trend and of course

this is all my own personal opinion.

Hands Free, Not Risk Free

Every morning I get in my brand new 2015 vehicle, put the key in the ignition and the very next thing

that happens is that my car links up with my cell phone.  This is bluetooth technology, something

that until very recently was foreign to me....ok, so I'm a little behind the times.

The buttons to answer the phone, hang up the phone and control the volume are

on my steering wheel.  It didn't take me long to realize that accessing these buttons

could be hazardous.  Well, anytime that you're mentally distracted or remove your eyes

from the road, let's face it you're distracted.

For me, I have to say that there are many times I don't answer the phone

while driving, even with hands free capabilities. 

 Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Use common sense while on the road for your safety and the safety of others.
